This store is in an odd and somewhat disguised and inaccessible location. If you're using Tom Tom GPS you will not find it unless you already know where it is located. The Plano store at Preston and Highland would serve better for future meetings since this more sensibly geographically related to "The North Dallas Hostelling Chapter" name. |

REI's corporate commitment to offer non-profits a venue in which to meet, totally free, is very evident by the care and assistance shown by the staff of the REI at the 4515 LBJ Freeway location. We are extremely grateful for their continued support of our mission. Highly recommended! |

I would encourage everyone who has an interest or thinks may ever have a need, to take this class. This was definitely and 'Intro' class - but gave enough info to identify areas to pursue further clarification and practice. The instructor placed strong emphasis on studying the map, planning and preparation prior to the hike. Also, addressed 'How NOT to get LOST' and 'How to get FOUND.' The instructor also recommends getting out and practicing using compass and learning to set triangulation. I, personally, need hands-on to make all of this 'compute', but using a compass would be a lot of fun. It would seem like a game, when not being used in a serious situation. Instructor recommends books to read, one contains exercises to do in corelation with the reading. I would take this class again. |
